The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) reported its highest single-day COVID-19 death toll on Sunday, September 12 with 23 fatalities.
Data from the Department of Health in the region showed three deaths were recorded in Abra, Apayao, 4; Baguio City, 8; Benguet, 6; and Mountain Province, 2. Since the pandemic started, 1,034 deaths have been recorded for the whole region.
As of the weekend, the total number of active cases in the whole region have breached the 6K mark, which is currently at 6,695.
Baguio City and Benguet serve as the most recent hotspots of the virus with 2,268 and 1,483 respectively.
