Pangasinan Fourth District Representative Christopher “Toff” de Venecia sees nothing but a bright future for the Philippine Space Act (PhilSA)

The politiko, one of the principal authors of the bill, is “happy” that President Rodrigo Duterte has already signed the PhilSA into law.

De Venecia said the landmark legislation would help the country in various key development areas, from telecommunications to agriculture, from national security to disaster management.

“With the Philippine Space Act, I would not be surprised that in the near future, we will experience a swelling in our own Filipino space scientists, space science researchers, and astronomers who have had to go abroad to put their knowledge to good use. Now, they’ll have a PhilSA to come home to,” said De Venecia.

The Philippine Space Act has just been signed into law! ✨✨✨ • I am happy to announce that we will now have a Philippine Space Agency in charge of creating and implementing the Philippine Space Development and Utilization Policy. This landmark legislation will assist us in various key development areas in which space science and technology applications can aid in various sectors of our development: from telecommunications to agriculture, national security to disaster management. Subsequently, this centralized agency will also institutionalize funding for space research and development to further improve our technologies. With the Philippine Space Act, I would not be surprised that in the near future, we will experience a swelling in our own Filipino space scientists, space science researchers, and astronomers who have had to go abroad to put their knowledge to good use. Now, they’ll have a PhilSA to come home to. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Mabuhay ang Pinoy! PS: a throwback to our committee meetings #PhilSa #PhilippineSpaceAgency
