President Rodrigo Duterte was born in Visayas but grew up in Mindanao but he preferred to surround himself with industrious and brave Ilocanos.
Duterte told a campaign rally in Isabela that this was the reason why most of his Cabinet Secretaries (such as Labor Secretary Bebot Bello, Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana) and generals were all Ilocanos.
He said if the people want to kick him out as president, he has no problem turning over the reins to the Iocano-dominated Cabinet and military.
