‘Wag na padagdag sa hirap! Imee Marcos says not the time for new digital taxes

Senator Imee Marcos said the COVID-19 pandemic is not the time to impose taxes on digital transactions, arguing it would add more burden to Filipinos.

On Monday, June 1, the Ilocano politiko said it might discourage the public to use digital platforms at a time they are encouraged to practice social distancing.

“New taxes at this time can discourage broader public use of digital tools and services,” Marcos said.

“We must first be allowed to get familiar and participate in the world’s new ways of getting things done to stimulate business and job creation,” he added.
