Isabela 1st District Representative Antonio “Tonypet” Albano, who is set to serve another term in Congress, called for unity now that the elections are over.
The North Luzon politiko made the appeal in a Facebook post on Thursday, May 12, after he was formally proclaimed as congressman-elect.
“Many more ills are to be addressed, and so I appeal to all of us Filipinos to unite for us to become a progressive nation. We have but one God and one country. If we love our God and country, then let us all be one people to help this administration succeed in its goals to help our country become successful and great,” said Albano.
“Let us forget the bitterness that the election has brought us. Let us concentrate on how we can all help, instead of becoming destructive, or a hindrance to growth and prosperity,” he added.
Albano won bis reelection bid with 176,265 votes against the 4,337 votes of his rival Stephen Soliven.
