Tuba Vice Mayor Maria Carantes said the establishment of the proposed state-of-the-art piggery in Barangay San Pascual should undergo exhaustive consultations with the people directly affected by the project.
The Benguet politiko said municipal officials have not come up with a consensus whether they will support or reject the proposed piggery.
Carantes explained that some issues remain to be hashed out.
“We will leave the matter to the decision of the residents and the barangay officials in San Pascual whether or not to give their consent for the project because they are the ones who will be directly and indirectly affected by the project,” she said.
“We will simply look into the compliance of the proponents to the prescribed requirements for such a magnitude of a project to prevent the occurrence of problems that will have a negative impact to the state of the environment in the area and other nearby communities,” Carantes added.
