Outgoing Kalinga Vice Governor James Edubba has filed an election protest before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) after he lost his gubernatorial bid in the May 13 elections.
The Kalinga politiko said he wants to exclude the votes cast in Barangay Sucbut in Pinukpuk.
Edubba said there were alleged incidents that cast doubt on the sanctity of the votes in Barangay Sucbut.
In his protest, he said that his 122 vote-lead over Tubban was overtaken when results from Barangay Sucbut were counted in the provincial canvas.
“We simply want the poll body to look into the circumstances that happened prior to the canvassing of the casted votes from Sucbut because there was already a cloud of doubt on the sanctity of the ballots with what happened,” Edduba said.
“Why did the Comelec officials confiscate the SD cards and order the BEI members to go home because it will take two days to reconfigure the same? Why did the Comelec officials change their mind and call back the BEI members and inform them that what was defective was the vote counting machine?” he added.
