The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has unveiled a new and sturdier P15-million bridge project in Bacnotan, La Union.

According to the government agency, this is to further cement the booming local economy in the town as it focused on the infrastructure and accessibility of traders to and from its neighboring provinces in Region 1.

In a report, DPWH Regional Director Ronnel Tan said that the new bridge replaced the old Ballogo Bridge along Bitalag-Quirino Road in Barangay Ballogo in Bacnotan.

“With a better connection along Manila North Road, this two-lane Ballogo Bridge is expected to serve some 42,000 residents of Bacnotan using this time a much improved infrastructure,” Tan said in an interview with reporters over the weekend.
