Former senator Bongbong Marcos on January 10 called out the Supreme Court Associate Justice Benjamin Caguioa for his supposed “disturbing series of decisions” on his electoral protest against Vice President Leni Robredo.
The Ilocos Norte politiko claimed the Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), has been giving him “unfair” treatment.
Marcos filed an electoral protest against Robredo for alleged cheating in the 2016 elections.
“I have come to be concerned because the PET’s treatment of me has been unfair. And we can see there have been a disturbing series of decisions made by Associate Justice Caguioa that are clearly unfair and unjust,” Marcos said.
Before being appointed to the SC, Caguioa was former president Benigno Aquino III’s chief legal counsel and justice secretary.
He was also Aquino’s classmate at the Ateneo de Manila University.
Marcos said he is mulling if he will file a petition to raffle off his protest to another SC magistrate.
“I imagine that’s one option. I don’t know if we will do it. But we have to do something soon,” he said.
