A technical working group (TWG) has recommended reducing Baguio City’s 128 barangays to 32.
The TWG was tasked by former Baguio City mayor Mauricio Domogan to study the merger of the Summer Capital’s barangays.
Representative Mark Go said he is willing to file a bill seeking Congressional funding for a plebiscite on the barangay merger.
The proposed merger of Baguio’s barangays is in compliance with the requirements in the creation of a barangay under the Local Government Code.
The barangay merger also seeks a more equitable distribution of Internal Revenue Allotment and government projects in Baguio.
