Isabela 1st District Representative Antonio “Tonypet” Albano told the embattled Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) to shape up.
During a recent House hearing, the politiko hit PhilHealth for the alleged discrepancies in its data involving the Interim Disbursement Mechanism for hospitals in Luzon. He slammed PhilHealth for its reimbursement backlogs that have reached hundreds of millions of pesos.
“How can I help our hospitals, doctors and medical frontliners, and Philhealth contributors? Firstly, I hope to make Philhealth understand that their system is flawed, and that they need to fix and pay the backlog due to our government/private hospitals and clinics,” said Albano in a Facebook post on Friday, June 4.
He then said that PhilHealth officials vowed to comply with his request to reduce their backlogs as soon as possible.
“In fairness, Philhealth officials have vowed to comply ASAP, reduce their due backlogs, and pay immediately what they owe. Let’s be vigilant and see. I’ll [be] watching them closely like a hawk,” said Albano.
