Isabela First District Congressman Antonio “Tonypet” Albano was among the millions of fans who mourned the death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant on Monday, January 27.

The politiko said waking up that fateful day to news that Bryant died in a helicopter crash was “surreal and truly sad.” But it also made the devout Catholic reflect on life and death.

“So there should be no time for us to waste our limited and borrowed time to sulk, get mad, be envious, and have all the negativity that invades our life to become miserable. Evil will only triumph if we allow such negativity to succumb us. Therefore, be positive and make love!” Albano said on Facebook.

The congressman then bid farewell to Bryant, who died alongside his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others.

“Good bye, Kobe! You’ve lived a good Catholic life. We will surely miss your infectious smile, and your brilliance will live in our hearts and minds… because you dared to love the game and become one of the greats!” Albano said.
