Pangasinan 4th District Representative Christopher de Venecia said it is high time that the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) be given a higher budget so that it can can perform its mandate to properly monitor the airtime given by broadcast media outlets to child-friendly programs.
The Pangasinan politiko made the remark during the virtual meeting of the House Committee on Basic Education and Culture and the NCCT to ensure the broadcast television networks’ compliance with the Children’s Television Act of 1997.
De Venecia explained that TV broadcasters have a big role to play in children’s education especially during the coronavirus disease (COVID19) pandemic.
