Pangasinan 4th District Representative Christopher de Venecia is seeking to require the mandatory wearing of face shields in public amid the coronavirus (COVID19) pandemic.

The Pangasinan politiko made the proposal during the virtual meeting of the New Normal Cluster of the Defeat COVID19 ad-hoc Committee.

“Since COVID19 may be transmitted through the eyes, maybe we can look at the possibility of requiring the public to wear protective gear for the protection of the eyes such as face shields to cover the eyes, nose, and mouth,” De Venecia said.

He also said there is a need for a uniform “Workplace Management Plan” for each sector rather than having different protocols for individual entities.

De Venecia added that a strategic marketing and communiations campaign must be rolled out to “restore and inspire consumer confidence in all affected industries.”
