Senator Imee Marcos said it is about time the government focuses on giving fast Internet access even in remote areas now that the country is facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Ilocano politiko made the statement in a Facebook post on Saturday, June 20, arguing slow Wi-Fi connection would be bad for the economy that is already struggling because of the health crisis.

“A robust digital economy is our hope for a post-COVID future,” Marcos said.

“Slow Internet speed plus limited online access equals a sluggish economy and a sorry standard of living, more so for local government units in more remote areas of the country,” she added.
