Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong confirmed that the city is currently experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases due to the Delta Variant.
In an interview, the Politiko said that daily cases in the city are now averaging from 270 to 280. Some days, they log 300 cases.
As of September 29, Baguio has reported 24,365 cases, of which 487 patients have died. Mayor Magalong added that currently, 4,526 of these are active infections.
“We started the surge August 20 and umabot na rin ng (it has reached) 1 month and 1 week, and we expect the surge will continue until siguro mga 3 weeks pa or another 4 weeks (3 to 4 more weeks),” he said.
