Ilocos Norte will remain under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) due the novel coronavirus crisis.
This was announced by Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc in a Facebook post on Friday, May 15.
“Presently, Ilocos Norte has zero confirmed cases of COVID-19. As you probably know, the Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has classified our province under general community quarantine (GCQ),” Manotoc said.
The politiko said Ilocos Norte has already started rapid testing their health workers and residents under quarantine. Their PCR machine is also in place at the Mariano Marcos Hospital and Memorial Medical Center. The province increased its quarantine capacity as well.
“On May 8, we provided the updated Interim Modified General Community Quarantine guidelines, including the list of permitted establishments and means of transportation. Tonight, as we await the updated General Community Quarantine guidelines from the IATF-EID, Ilocos Norte will remain status quo and under our existing MGCQ guidelines,” Manotoc said.
