La Union 2nd District Representative Sandra Eriguel on May 28 denied her late husband was involved in the illegal drug trade.
President Rodrigo Duterte previously included former La Union lawmaker Eufranio “Franny” Eriguel in his list of alleged narco-politikos.
The former La Union lawmaker was killed by unidentified assailants on the eve of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
But Eriguel, during a privilege speech, said her late husband was a “principled man.”
“He was never involved in drugs despite what his detractors would lead us to believe. He was a doctor, a principled man, who like many of you, did all his power to eradicate drugs in our community. He believed drug destroyed futures, destroyed families,” she said.
