The Sandiganbayan has affirmed the conviction of former Tabuk mayor Camilo Lammawin, Jr and his wife Salud Lammawin in connection to a graft and direct bribery case.
The anti-graft court junked the motions of reconsideration and motions for voluntary inhibition filed by the Lammawins seeking to overturn the case.
The Lammawins were sentenced to six to nine years for graft and two to eight years for bribery.
The graft and direct bribery case was connection to their demand of money in exchange for the release of payment to a construction company in 2012.
In their motion for reconsideration, the Lammawins said the Sandiganbayan did not consider all pieces of evidence.
Meanwhile, they claimed there was bias against them because they “believe that the Honorable Justices of the Seventh Division will not overturn the joint decision it issued, and had it really intended to tackle the issue on the inordinate delay in filing the criminal action, it could have done so, and the joint decision could have acquitted [them].”
