San Nicolas officials called on Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos to address the unregulated burning of cogon grass along Padsan River in Laoag City.
In a resolution addressed to the Ilocos Norte politiko, members of the San Nicolas municipal council said residents have been complaining of the smoke coming from the burning cogon grass along Padsan River.
The residents have supposedly been experiencing health problems because of the smoke.
They said the cogon-grass-burning usually happens during the month-long celebration of the Pamulinawen Festival in Laoag every February.
Vendors and itinerant carnival troops usually occupy the are under the Gilbert Bridge during the Pamulinawen Festival.#
