La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda said the municipal government is planning to put up a P69-million sewerage treatment plant.
The Benguet politiko said the municipal government will partner with the La Trinidad Water District (LTWD) for the project.
But Salda said he is hoping that the Board of Regents Benguet State University (BSU) will approve of the plan to build it in their campus.
“ We are keeping out fingers crossed that the Board of Regents of the higher education institution will grant our request for the use of a portion of its land holdings for the put up of our own sewerage treatment plant,” he said.
Salda explained that the build a sewerage treatment plant “will effectively address the prevailing problem on the treatment of waste water being directly discharged by residential and commercial establishments to the different river systems in the municipality.”
