Vice President Leni Robredo’s lawyer Romulo Macalintal on February 5 said the ballot recount results will only disappoint former senator Bongbong Marcos.
The Ilocos Norte politiko filed an electoral protest against Robredo for alleged cheating in the 2016 polls.
“We assure our electorate that the results of the recount would greatly disappoint Marcos since the recount will just confirm the results as counted by the vote-counting machines,” he said.
Macalintal said Marcos’ electoral protest is “facing its eventual dismissal.”
Marcos last week challenged the Vice President to “sign a joint motion” so the ballot recount can finally begin.
But Macalintal insisted it is Marcos who has pending motions before the Supreme Court, acting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal.
“Mr Marcos is bluffing on his challenge to withdraw all motions as there is no motion pending at the Presidential Electoral Tribunal that would or could delay the recount,” Macalintal said.#
