It may just well be the political wedding of the year.
The grandchildren of once bitter rivals former President Ferdinand Marcos and ex-Foreign Affairs Secretary Raul Manglapus – Michael “Mike” Marcos and Cara Manglapus – got married in a private ceremony on Wednesday, November 22.
Their “bales” – a traditional celebration when an Ilocano couple gets married outside of their hometowns – was held on Saturday, November 25 at the San Agustin Church in Paoay, Ilocos Norte.
Mike’s mother, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos, was quite proud of the marriage. She even shared the wedding video of Mike and Cara a day after the bales.
“Balikan natin ang masayang pagdiriwang ng Thanksgiving Mass sa Paoay Church nina Michael at Cara! Love wins and conquers all indeed,” said Marcos.
“Let us write our own new history, inspired by families reconciled and united as one at last,” she added.
Sweet naman ng #MikeGotCaradAway!
