The Province of Quirino gained praise from the Commission of Audit (COA) for its various successes in 2018, particularly those in infrastructure, disaster risk and waste management.
In their annual audit report, state auditors commended the province for completing seven road projects totaling P267.68 million which also garnered them an award from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
“We commended management for its continuous efforts to improve the quality of life of its constituents through accomplishments of development projects,” COA said.

COA also commended the province for abiding by the budgetary requirements for local disaster risk reduction efforts, utilizing P74.86 million in 2018 to fund local efforts.
In the same year, a state of calamity was declared in the province in the wake of Typhoons Ompong and Rosita.
Lastly, the state auditing agency also congratulated Quirino officials for updating their local Solid Waste Management Plan until the year 2025, aimed at environmental preservation in garbage collection efforts.
“We commended the Province for its significant projects and activities on disaster risk reduction and management,” the report read. “[A]nd (the province’s) effort to support the solid waste management related activities of the municipalities for the betterment of the whole province.”
