Ifugao Representative Teddy Baguilat on January 31 expressed his frustration over having his bank account application rejected for the third time.
The Ifugao politiko said he just wanted to open sa savings account where he can place his extra income.
When I think of it, I feel depressed. A trite frustrated maybe. Even angry. I just want to open a savings account. Place my extra income to productive use. Earn honestly,” Baguilat said.
Baguilat said his status as a public official seems to be the reason behind his rejection.
“Yet another bank seems to have rejected my application to transact with them. Reason: I’m a public official. Pangatlong beses na ito. I guess red flag mga officials. Money laundering, Napoles scam, drug money. Maybe, politicians have become synonymous to dirty money,” he lamented.
“So that depresses me either because of the way politicians have been demonised by the banks or because some of us have given public service a bad name. But the thing is… I just want to open a savings account,” Baguilat added.
