The Baguio City Jail Male Dormitory (BCJMD) were cleared of illegal drugs during a greyhound and search operation among inmates on Tuesday, September 27.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Cordillera Investigation Agent V Charlton John Carame said that the regular search operation is part of the BCJMD’s efforts for the renewal of its drug-free facility certification.
“This is the second time that we have a joint greyhound and we did not find any illegal drugs,” he said.
He detailed that each detention cell was cleared out during the search. Drug sniffing canines were also made to check each of the boxes while anti-narcotics operatives search individual boxes for other contrabands like metals, dangerous items, and other prohibited items prohibited inside the jail.
BCJMD Jail Warden, Supt. Mary Ann Ollaging-Tresmanio, said the activity is the second of the three greyhound operations required before they can be issued a new certificate.
“All three greyhounds must yield a negative result,” she said.
