Senator Imee Marcos is supporting the bill that would amend the Public Service Act and allow full foreign ownership of public services.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, June 2, the Ilocano politiko said she foreign investment is “much needed” by the Philippines.
“I strongly support the passage of a revitalized Public Service Act. The differentiation of public utilities from public services will liberalize and attract much needed foreign investment in our basic services,” said Marcos.
“What should be paramount, above foreign direct investment and even national security, is the plea of ordinary Filipinos for everyday necessities like power and water, essential connectedness to live and work, and a more healthful and sustainable community in which their families can flourish,” she added.
