Gov. Amado Espino III, on behalf of the people of Pangasinan, extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of former Senator Leticia Ramos-Shahani, who joined her Creator early Monday morning.
Shahani, 87, was the younger sister of former President Fidel Valdez Ramos who are from Asingan, Pangasinan.
In condoling with the family of the late former senator, Gov. Espino wrote in his Facebook account Monday night that the province of Pangasinan and the entire country “have just lost one of the most distinguished women legislators to have ever graced the halls of the Senate.”
He said on the national level, Senator Shahani will surely be missed by her countrymen as a staunch advocate of women empowerment who penned landmark legislations to uplift and protect women’s rights.
“As a highly esteemed diplomat, the good senator will be remembered for the ideals she set in foreign service and relations,” he said.
The governor said as a daughter of Pangasinan, Senator Shahani’s presence and support to “our lofty endeavours will forever be etched not just in the annals of our province’s history but will also be engraved in the hearts of those whose lives she has deeply touched.”
“Once again, on behalf of my family and all the provincial goverment, both elected and appointive officials and employees, our deepest sympathy,” Espino said.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) also passed a resolution on Monday, extending its heartfelt condolences to the beareved family of the late senator.(PNA)
