P5.2M agri damage reported in Pangasinan

Pangasinan posted around P5.2 million worth of damage to its agriculture caused by typhoon Karding, the provincial government reported on tuesday, September 27.

In an interview, Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) emergency operations center manager Shallom Balolong said the typhoon has damaged over 1,615 hectares of rice field across nine local government units (LGUs) in the province, estimating an initial loss of P4.1 million worth of palay.

He added that Karding also affected the province’s corn production, damaging seven metric tons of losses amounting to P531,680 in the 18.8 hectares of plantation.

“The validation in the fisheries sector is still ongoing while the livestock industry suffered P383,550 worth of losses,” he also noted.

He also reported damage to the province’s infrastructure which is estimated to reach P450,000. Balolong cited damages in provincial roads in Mabini, San Fabian, and Bautista towns in Pangasinan.

“Our validation team is still conducting an assessment to come up with the final report on the damages brought by ‘Karding’,” he added.
