Nueva Vizcaya placed under state of calamity after Typhoon Ompong
The Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Board has declared a state of calamity in the province following the severe damage wrought by Typhoon Ompong.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) has estimated that around P923 million worth of damage to agriculture, roads, and infrastructure.
The PDRRMC initially pegged the damage to P700 million last September 20.
The provincial government is eyeing some remedial measures to mitigate the effects of the typhoon.
Among these are the enforcement of price control monitoring to prevent price increase and commodity hoarding, granting loans to bonafide victims of disaster, release of calamity funds and programming of funds for rehabilitation, relief, reconstruction and other services.
