Nueva Vizcaya has declared a state of calamity in the province due to the drop in the price of palay and the African Swine Fever (ASF) scare.
The Nueva Vizcaya provincial board on November 18 has passed a resolution placing the province under a state of calamity.
The province has reported an aggregate loss of P604 million.
Around 2,000 hog raisers have been affected by the ASF scare in the province.
Meanwhile, the steep drop in palay price was due to the implementation of the Rice Tarrification Law (RTL).
