Bauko Mayor Abraham Akilit said tourism still remains as the municipality’s main economic driver.
The Mountain Province politiko, in his State of the Municipality Address, said the municipal government is developing a comprehensive tourism development plan to take advantage of the town’s natural resources and unique culture.
Akilit cited the increase in tourist arrivals in Bauko since 2013.
He said 89% of the 7,908 tourist arrivals were domestic tourists.
“Bauko’s sustainable economic growth could be realized once foreign and domestic tourists will flock to the different tourism destinations in the locality,” Akiit said.#
