Board member Nestor Fongwan, Jr. is pushing for the revival of barter trade amid the coronavirus disease (COVID19) pandemic.
The Benguet politiko said bartering may help sustain people’s livelihood during the pandemic.
He said highland vegetables can be traded for lowland vegetables.
“We came out with the idea to have a barter of highland and lowland vegetables to allow our residents to have easy access to the lowland vegetables while our lowland brothers and sisters could also access the highland vegetables produced by our hardworking farmers from the different vegetable-producing areas in our province,” Fongwan said.
Fongwan said there is an oversupply of some highland vegetables especially with the transport restrictions in place.
