Local healthcare workers in Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMHMC) have stepped up their COVID-19 response and helped in building the planned field hospital for patients.
Dr. Mari Anne Quijano-Orros, MMMHMC medical consultant, said that the basketball court and hospital driveways were being converted into field wards for suspected cases and patients waiting for their test results before admission.
“[This is] in view of the increasing number of [COVID-19] suspects and confirmed cases occupying the regular isolation wards,” Orros said in a Facebook post.
MMMHMC is the primary COVID-19 referral and treatment center in Ilocos Norte. Local officials said that the field hospital can also function as an isolation facility.
