Pangasinan is seeking to establish its own molecular laboratory aimed at testing coronavirus disease (COVID19) cases.
The molecular laboratory will be located at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital.
Provincial Health Office Chief Dr. Anna de Guzman said the provincial government has already bought an automated polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machine and other medical equipment.
De Guzman said they will still need to wait for the accreditation of the molecular lab from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
“If we have the molecular laboratory in the province, the turn-around time for testing will be one to two days since we will be using an automated PCR machine that processes the swabs within four hours so we will be able to get possibly the earliest results within five to six hours,” she said.
