The Mines and Geosciences Bureau–Cordillera (MGB–CAR) is fully supporting Baguio City Representative Mark Go’s proposal to declare the Summer Capital a mining-free zone.
The Baguio politiko earlier filed House Bill No. 5619 which seeks to ban mining activities in the city.
Under his proposed measure, all mining activities, including small-scale mining and quarrying will be prohibited in Baguio.
Go also wants the reforestation and rehabilitation of mining-affected areas.
MGB-CAR earlier said there are currently six pending small-scale mining association applications for Baguio.
