La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda said the capital town has rejected the proposed importation of South Korean strawberries.
La Trinidad is known to be the Strawberry Capital of the Philippines.
Salda explained that farmers have expressed confidence that they can supply the demand for strawberries.
“We object plans to import fresh strawberries because our farmers can produce enough supply,” he said.
“We can even export strawberries. We just have to improve our packaging,” Salda added.
