La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda said the creation of a mini-eco park at the Puguis communal forest will prevent illegal settlers from building structures in the area.
The Benguet politiko earlier asked the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for help in stopping the intrusion of claimants at the Puguis Communal Forest.
Salda explained that illegal settlers have been cutting trees and building shanties in the forest.
“Once an eco-park is established and open to the public, visitors entering the area are properly monitored,” he said.
“This is one way to prevent people with self-interest from entering the area,” Salda added.
