La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda slammed the sudden change in police leadership in his town.
The Benguet politiko said it is the second time in seven months that the municipal police chief was replaced while he was out of the country for an official trip.
Police Major Joeffer Banglayan was replaced by Police Major Roland Cabatan last week.
Salda said he is puzzled about the Philippine National Police’s decisions.
“We were surprised to learn that our chief of police was replaced as per text messages that we received when we were in Japan,” he said.
“It was the second time that happened during my incumbency that is why we do not understand the wisdom behind replacing the chief of police in my absence,” he added.
