Tuba Mayor Ignacio Rivera said the municipal government’s meeting with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has been reset to a later date.
The Benguet politiko said the meeting will be about PEZA’s decision on which of the three sites in Tuba will qualify as an expansion area of the economic zone.
“We will just keep our fingers crossed that one of the inspected sites in the municipality will be able to qualify as an expansion site of the economic zone considering the absence of available area in Baguio City where it could further expand its operations to entice more multinational companies to invest in our area,” Rivera said.
But Rivera admitted the presence of alleged claimants and informal settlers in the three proposed expansion sites are hindrances to their selection.
He also said PEZA prefers sites located along national highways with abundant water supply.
