Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey lauded the collaboration of the municipality’s stakeholders in finding a solution to the town’s solid waste management problem.
The Mountain Province politiko explained that the he and the members of the municipal council just started their term when the Court of Appeals ordered the closure and rehabilitation of the town’s open dumpsite in Barangay Caluttit in 2016.
Odsey said he took the order as a challenge to implement a sustainable solid waste management program for Bontoc.
Bontoc’s solid waste management program has been recognized in the regional and national level since then.
“The awards are a result of the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders-the LGU, the barangays, the schools, the business sector, and the community in general. There is still a long way to go so we still need everyone’s commitment as regards waste management,” Odsey said.
