Mayor Medina: Holy Week more chaotic than Palarong Pambansa

Apr 18, 2018 @ 20:57

Vigan City Mayor Juan Carlo Medina said hosting the 2018 Palarong Pambansa is easier compared to the influx of tourists during Holy Week.

The Ilocos Sur politiko, in a Rappler article, said Vigan’s hotels only has a maximum capacity of 4,738.

“We have 17,000 athletes from all over the country. Include the officials, parents, guests and fans and we are talking about 50,000 people,” Medina said.

He also said the city government’s private garbage contractor needed to hire two additional garbage trucks to address the waste generated by the Palaro.

But despite this, Medina said Vigan was prepared for the annual sports event.

“I was not worried about the games. The situation was more chaotic during the Holy Week,” he said.
