The Baguio politiko explained that tree seedlings planted in forest reservations have low survival rates.

Magalong said idle lots that can be converted into tree farms where tree seedlings will be allowed to grow for two to three years before they are transferred into forest reservations.

“This is for the love of the environment and for the love of Baguio,” he said.

Magalong also said the city government is planning to put up a bamboo nursery at Quezon Hill.

“Bamboos have been found to have carbon dioxide sequestration capacity three times higher than any adult tree so we should also delve on bamboo propagation,” he said.
