Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong assured the Summer Capital’s market vendors that the city government will uphold their welfare amid the proposed development of the public market.
The city government received flak for accepting proposals from big companies.
Magalong said the public market will still be managed by the city government.
“I am assuring you that even if we pursue the public-private partnership in the market development, the city market will continue to be owned and managed by the city government and not the private company,” he said.
“Most of those opposing the project are those whose illegal activities are threatened by the cleansing and we are going to make sure that only those with legitimate claims will remain,” Magalong added.
