Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong said SM Prime Holdings has not won the right to develop the city’s public market despite being awarded the original proponent status (OPS).
The Baguio politiko made the clarification after he overturned the Public-Private Partnership for People-Screening Committee’s (P4-SC) recommendation to award the OPS to Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC).
Magalong said RLC’s proposal had deficiencies that merited outright rejection.
“Hindi pa nanalo ang SM,” he said.
“It was just given the OPS to publish the design and to start the negotiations for a public-private partnership (PPP) deal for the city market project,” Magalong added.
