Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong called on hospitals in the region to make sure that only critical patients will be transferred to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC).
The Baguio politiko said patients with only mild symptoms should remain in provincial hospitals.
City Health Officer Rowena Galpo echoed Magalong’s call.
“If the patients are not serious and if they can be managed in their levels, then provincial hospitals don’t have to refer these patients to BGHMC anymore to avoid overwhelming the facility,” Galpo said.
Magalong clarified that BGHMC does not mean to turn away patients.
“However, in these crucial times when we are faced with a serious health crisis, we pray for understanding from hospitals in our neighboring provinces to consider the plight of BGHMC and help ease its burden,” he said.
