President Rodrigo Duterte has named Baguio City Benjamin Magalong as the country’s coronavirus disease (COVID19) “contact tracing czar.”
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on July 13 also named Public Works Secretary Mark Villar as “isolation czar” and Health Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega as “treatment czar.”
The new assignments came as the government has failed to flatten the curve despite implementing various iterations of community quarantines for more than 100 days already.
The Baguio politiko has been lauded for using police questioning techniques in the Summer Capital’s contact tracing efforts.
Magalong said the use of police questioning techniques in Baguio’s contact tracing efforts has helped contain the spread of COVID19 in the city.
