Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong admitted he cannot do anything about the 200 taxi franchises earlier approved by the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
But the Baguio politiko said the city government will continue to voice its opposition to the LTFRB’s move.
He said that if the LTFRB pushes through with the move, it will be a violation of the moratorium on the issuance of the taxi franchises.
Magalong said the Summer Capital’s traffic situation will be adversely affected by the move.
He said he is trying to meet with LTFRB officials to express his disagreement with the agency’s approval of the taxi franchises without consultation with the city government.
Magalong said he hopes he can still change the LTFRB’s decision.
