Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong once again voiced his support for Cordillera’s quest for autonomy.
The Baguio politiko made the remark during the 32nd founding anniversary of the Cordillera Administrative Region last July 15 in Kalinga.
Magalong said autonomy will enhance “bottoms-up governance.”
He also said achieving Cordillera autonomy is not a lost cause.
“Our diverse culture and heritage should serve as the unifying factor in our common struggle for self-rule,” he said.
“Let us use our commonalities in beefing up the snowballing autonomy movement for us to convince the members of the 18th Congress to pass the long-overdue organic act and for President Rodrigo Duterte to certify the autonomy bill as a priority administration measure. Everything is not actually lost in our cause,” Magalong added.
