Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the usufruct agreement for the city’s use of a private lot in Tuba, Benguet for the establishment of a high-tech piggery is already in the final stages.
The Baguio politiko said the technology-based piggery farm in Tuba is meant to compensate for the ban on backyard piggeries in the Summer Capital.
“We are a compassionate local government unit. While we are taking them out because hog raising is not allowed in an urban area, we need to help them too,” Magalong said.
He said the high-tech piggery is expected to produce 1,200 heads every six months.
“In one year, there will be 2,400 heads. So ‘yung mga nag-aalaga ngayon, kahit hindi na mag-alaga. Hintayin na lang nila ‘yung tseke nila,” Magalong said.
